We had reserved the meeting on July 16th to undertake the necessary repair and maintenance to the layout. Phil Saint had already made up new curves, to replace the existing somewhat unwieldy items. On the 16th the new curve sections had to be fitted to their respective underframes and then onto the existing trestles. At the sametime, the track was stripped from the old corner units, and some of the pointwork lifted. Using a railbender, the existing track will be re-radiused and then re-used, hopefully saving NWAG money in the process.

On July 16th, the basic carpentry work was just about completed. But we are now left with a LOT of track fitting and fettling if we are to have the layout operational for the September meeting. We have negotiated with the church to have access to St Albans Hall on August 6th, 10:00 until 15:00. This will be another ''free'' day, but we need your support.

Of the 22 people who came to the meeting on July 16th, about 16 came prepared to work and did so. Ken was in charge of the kitchen, Don washed up. Some were just there to give encouragement. Dave Denton, whilst bringing his usual very saleable stock, also lent a hand, and even two visitors were roped in. On August 6th, we know some of this workforce will not be available. So its your opportunity to show you care.
